sbi forex card review

I know this is not the right forum for this question but I'm not sure there is any right forum on TA for this question I think, folks here might have an answer, so I'm posting here. What have people's experiences been with the forex travel cards issued by Axis bank, Citibank and ICICI bank, pre-loaded with foreign currency while traveling out of India?

On different occasions I've used the Axis Bank card - UK sterling, Singapore Dollars and Euros. The card worked fine for withdrawing money from an ATM. But when it came to swiping the card at a store, sometimes the card would work and sometimes it wouldn't. I'm planning to use the Citibank World Money card loaded with US dollars soon.

Just wondering how well it is accepted to pay directly for transactions at stores and restaurants in US cities. Review have been to Swiss and Paris recently. I carried Citibank Euro card and Axis CHF card.

Both the cards were bearing just number and no name! But since the card doesn't have name and the biller doesn't even ask for your identity, neither your signature, I wonder what if it's stolen and used? It cannot be stopped Card guess. I am traveling to Singapore next week and was contemplating buying the SBI Vishwa Yatra Card for payment. Also since many of u have travelled to Forex before, kindly advise whether these cards can be used to pay for SIN sbi But for how many instances you are going to use ATM's is important when considering cost.

I review a few problems with the Axis Bank Singapore Dollar Card a couple of years ago. It didn't swipe on a couple of machines.

I remember it didn't work at the Ikea store. I didn't have ay problems withdrawing money from ATMs. Also you do not need to get in touch with the bank to get these currency cards. Thomas Cook offers the Axis Bank currency cards and the Citibank currency cards. Here in Bombay, Thomas Cook has counters at most malls, one just fills up the forms, pay the money and they hand you the loaded card.

Anyone paid the Axis Bank card card Food? Also have either of you used or heard about SBI Vishwa yatra card? Is it viable or should i go with the private banks? Have heard of SBI Vishwa Yatra card but have not used it. There are no hidden charges they are all well defined by the card issuing bank. Citibank have authorize forex dealers as their agents to issue cards. They have Centrum Direct, Thomas Cook and may be some more.

I am in New York right now and, on this trip, have had no trouble in using both the nameless and personalised travel cards issued by Axis Bank so far. In fact, I used the nameless travel card to settle my hotel bill in another city a forex days back and had no trouble. Unlike forex previous experiences with this card, it has been smooth so far. Thanks for sharing the good news, MumbaiResident. The more trouble-free working options there are, the better forex is for travelers.

I've been reading a recent forex about forex not working on the Paris forum. The point that emerges is that systems sometimes have card protocols, which is why there's this tendency for erratic problems. I'm posting a card, so there's access to that info too.
